Question

Are we able to change the user permissions in FSM SQL databases?

Dear FSM Experts:

Are we able to change the user permissions in the SQL databases without a typical update completely destroying our modifications? This relates to the OBDC reports – we do not wish to use a password in a string visible on the server.

So we are thinking about using AAD auth and having the users auth themselves via 2FA universal authentication. We can modify the DB to add the user group and have already enabled AAD AUTH.

Are there any issues in doing so?

Thank you,

Kasun

Hi @Kasun Manuranga,

Changes made directly on the SQL Server should not be overwritten on upgrade. Are you seeing changes be removed? Anything specific?

With issues were users wish to get more complex with the reporting needs it tends to be a suggestion that that is the time to perhaps looking at reporting specific solutions that will enable that sort of setup and connect direct to the database. Or use the client reports rather than OBDC.

Kind regards,

Lee Pinchbeck
