Project Variables: default value of supply option on comoinents

Forum|alt.badge.img+6

Hi Community,

I’m looking for the way to set default value for “supply option” on project deliverables.

When I generate project deliverbile, default value of supply option (e.g. purhcase/MRP) is set to components. Does anyone know how this default vaule of supply option is set?

Best,

Hi Kohei,

It is set based on the connected part.

For the connected part, if there is inventory part on the site and no engineering part, then it is set based on the part type. If part type is Purchased, then supply option is Purchase; if Manufactured, then Shop Order.

If there is engineering part, and no inventory part, then it depends on the combination of Provide Code and Planning Method on engineering part.

If there are both EP and IP, then it depends on the combination of both above.

You can see some examples below.

The related fields on EP:

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Nebahat

An addition to how supply option is set:

When Std Planned Item is set to Yes in Product Structure and then in Project Deliverables Copy Product Structure functionality is used, then this overrides the Supply Option value set by Engineering Part.

I have a inventory part which Part Type is “purchased”

When creating project activity material demand (misc part tab), is there a way to set the supply option by default to “project MRP”?

Hi Toni,

You can default supply option to Project MRP by creating an Engineering Part with Provide Code = Buy and Planning Method = PMRP Planned.
This works both for miscellaneous demand on project activity, and for project deliverables as well.

Best regards,

Nebahat

Thank you @nkurt

We don’t use engineering parts. Is there a way to define supply option as “Project MRP” without engineering parts?

There is no other way as far as I know. Creating an Engineering Part is useful for the purpose using part no sequence and setting supply option even when engineering parts are not used by the customer. But then of course there is an extra step in part creation, and extra rows in the database tables.
