Question

Is it possible to copy access definition/project access when copying either a project or a sub-project?

We are in the process of setting up a project template (with standard WBS, report codes, etc.). When copying a project/sub-project (within the same company), users are able to carry over a lot of relevant information (at either project level or activity level).

However, there is no way to carry over information from access definition (where you grant a project team access to a project/sub-project). Is there a way to copy information from access definition when copying a project or a sub-project? If not, any idea if it is planned in future releases?

Notes:

  • Projects/Sub-projects are within the same company
  • The teams having access to the projects are discipline related (e.g. project management, engineering, workshop, installation etc.). Some have access to the whole project while others only have access to specific sub-projects.

Hi @Alexis.S,

Unfortunately the mentioned function is not yet facilitated in the system through Copy “Projects/Sub-projects” Wizards.

Right now the Team access to New projects is managed through this “Access to New project” option in “Project Team” screen so whenever a new Project is created with subprojects then this team will granted the access. Unless you need to manually setup those in Project screen.

Yet we have no information about a future release of the function then it would be better if you can raise this as a new Idea, in the Community > Idea section. Hence this might be considered in our future developments. (https://community.ifs.com/ideas)

Best Regards,

Kasun

@Kasun Manuranga  Thanks for the prompt reply. I’ll raise the idea, hopefully it will be picked up.

On the access to new projects, we have limited the use of that checkbox (as it grants access to all new projects, regardless of company).
