We use IFS apps 9 and we create Projects and Shop order (same name as the Project) for a site manually. We do not link them currently. We are trying to somehow capture the project information in the Shop order. We can’t select the Project while we create the Shop order. It doesn’t list any project and we can’t hand type it.

Please check whether Shop Order site is defined for Project as well.
If Site information at Shop Order and Project level are properly defined then you can select desired Project at Shop Order level using respective LoV.

+17You can either create the Shop Order directly from the Project - in which case it will carry the project connection or, if you’ve created SO manually you can RMB from the SO and connect to the Activity. You need to bear in mind, of course, if you do connect to the project activity, there are financial and stock management implications.
If you just wanted a ‘soft’ reference back to the project you could use the Notes field or add a custom free text field for users to just type the Project ID into..

+25The only way to have Project information appear in these standard fields in the Tracking tab of the Shop Order is to connect the shop order, while in Planned status, to a Project Activity through the context menu item Project Connection > Connect to Activity. These standard fields do not use any LOV.
You could add your own custom fields to mimic these.
