• This could be due to the fact that EV is based on Baseline. (EV = Progress x Baseline or Planned values (This will be decided when creating a baseline) Please check

• For example if the connected object is a PO when you register arrivals ‘Cost Progress’ will update. Based on the updated progress value and Planned/Baseline value EV will be calculated. 

3)Where should we set Top-Down/Bottom-Up Progress Methods on IFS?

• As far as I know, such progress method is not available. The available methods are Tasks, Template, Manual, Consumption based, Connected Objects and Duration

Top-Down Progress Methods

If the progress method is Duration, Template Progress, Tasks (of type Top-Down) or Manual (of type Top-Down):

• Activity progress: the calculated cost progress and calculated hours progress values on the activity level are assigned according to the selected progress method.
• Cost element progress: the cost progress value of the cost element is taken from the Calculated Cost Progress of the activity, and the hours progress value of the cost element is taken from the Calculated Hours Progress of the activity. The progress values are used to calculate the earned value for each cost element line.
• The progress of the connected objects is ignored.

Bottom-Up Progress Methods

If the progress method is Consumption Based, Connected Objects, Tasks (of type Bottom-Up) or Manual (of type Bottom-Up):

• Cost element progress: The cost progress and hours progress values on the cost element level are assigned according to the selected progress method. If the progress method is selected as Connected Objects, for those object types which report progress to the activity, the earned value is calculated for the cost element level, and vice versa.
• Activity progress: The calculated cost progress and calculated hours progress values of the activity is calculated as:
  • Calculated Cost Progress = Sum of Earned Value Cost for all cost elements / Sum of Planned (or Baseline) Cost for all cost elements
  • Calculated Hours Progress = Sum of Earned Value Hours for all cost elements / Sum of Planned (or Baseline) Hours for all cost elements
