Hii,

when we add a resource group to the planning under activity resource planning and then try to add employees under employee allocation the drop down shows all employees instead the employees relating to particular resource group only.

Can someone clarify this?

Planning :

Employee Allocation :

@nivslk we see the same behavior. To explain myself, I checked the help doc where it said -
Employees can also be connected to resource groups, but this connection is only allowed when the employee has been allocated on the activity level, as planning of resources is not possible on any other level.”

Due to this, I think it is possible to even add new employees to the group from employee allocation.

@nivslk There are different ways to create an employee allocation.

One can be done referencing the specific planning line via the command ‘Create Employee Allocation’

The resulting dialog will limit the available options to be those within the planning resource group’s structure - Note: that this will also include not only children but grandchildren and great grandchildren etc of the planning resource group

The other option is to do this via the Employee Allocation Tab - here the list of values is wider because it is possible to make a new allocation where a corresponding planning line does not exist and so the LOV also includes the direct parent resource group and will attempt to match to an existing planning line and if not then create a new planning line accordingly but with zero planned hours

Hopefully that answers your original concerns about the allocation LOV.
