Hello.
I  need a little help about how to set up work centers in IFS, if there is 3 or more persons per one assembly step/area.

For example:

Step 1 - 3 operators are doing 3 separate assemblies in the same area. After that, all assemblies move simultaneously to the next step. Lets say this is Work Center A

Step 2 - 4 or 5 operators are taking previously prepared assemblies and work on them simultaneously also (now its 2 persons for 1 assembly). Lets say this is Work Center B

Step 3 - I got 2-3 operators and 12 spots for testing the assemblies. Machine run time is 230 minutes: operators are doing about 40 min per assembly before machine’s independent run time - 180min (meanwhile they can start with other assembly) - and after that, 15 minutes for finishing. Lets say this is Work Center C

For planning, which way is it showing correct result in shop order scheduling?

Should I add separate resource under each work center (3 for A, 4-5 for B,  12 for C or 2-3?)

or should I put resource efficiency accordingly(300%, B 400%-500%, C 1200% or 200%-300%)?

As I understand then in Routing it tells timeline for one piece flow.

Hi, have you ever got some feedback? I am solving similar question right now. Thank you.

@Marti.M not sure if this is still relevant, but the right approach would be to specify crew size accordinly for each operation (3  / 5 / 12) → this is imports for cost calculation → based on Labor Class and crew size the system will determine the cost of the operation which will then flow into finance via MPL vouchers.

In routing operation you can set the Factor Unit to units per hour or hrs per unit (pay attention to this setting as it can drastically change your scheduling if setup incorrect.)

Hi

Thank You for feedback.

My concern is that every shop order size is different, also time for making every unit is different.

We have high mix volume producing with different workload in these Work Centers.

Sometimes order size is 18 - so Step2 is making it with crew size 6, Sometimes its order size 8, crew size is different then.

I reckon I can not fix crew size in routing, because every shop order we have different resources in use.

What worries me is that I can not change work center efficiency also.

Lets say Step2 is having 6 operators and sometimes there is only shop order for 4. If I change efficiency to 600%, it calculates it much faster than it really is.
