We want to become better at follow up on Scrap in shop orders.

 

Is there any good way to see how much a scrap of 2pcs in operation 50 costs (based on cost on previous operations and operation 50, or based on pre calculated cost per pcs and operation)?

 

The end goal:

  1. A report for the “High Scrap Cost” operations last 12 months where we can address the big money and focus on the top 50. 
  2. Give imidiate feedback to each production group on their lobby that:
    1. The cost of scrap this week was XXX
    2. Your top 10 scrap this week was XXXX with a “year scrap” of YYYY (a table element)
      - Operators often have information on why there is scrap and what we can do to improve, we just want to provide them with relevant data at the right time so they start thinking about it.

Operation scrap generates both an Operation History and Inventory History transaction. The cost can be found on the inventory transaction record. At least for standard cost parts I believe this cost is based on the estimated machine, labor and material costs up to and including this operation.

In Apps 10, there are also 2 lobby elements (not part of any lobby by default), where you should be able to find a quick overview of the cost.

Take a look at the elements COMPONENT SCRAP COST and OPERATION SCRAP COST. They will probably give you an idea of how you could define lobby elements to show what you are looking for, by reusing the data sources. 

It works and the lobbyelements were useful. Now we can track it on department and also show the top scrap parts on cost and frequency.

You can also test the Shop Orders Costs screen (An overview) In order to get data into that screen you need to run the job Aggregate Shop Order Costs per Shop Order. Then you will have your scrap cost per Shop Order, and of course you can group it by Part No if you want. In this screen you will not be able to see it per Operation No. So perhaps you don’t find it useful. Anyway… I started to write and now it is too late :-)

And it this page there are a lot of other cost columns to follow up on (again - per shop order). And from this page you can drill down to the Shop Order Cost screen to check some more details.
