We always manually issue materials on shop orders without reserving them first. We currently have a shop order for which we were able to manually issue the materials. But now when we try to Approve the Operation in the shop floor workbench, we get the error message “There are not enough reservations to issue this amount. Part ##### needs to be Reserved before issue.

What is the cause of and or resolution to this error message?

thank you

Hi;

This can happen if the Parent Part of the shop Order is Multi Level Tracking enabled Part (Serial, Lot, Order based)

Then it is required to reserve the Tracked Component Parts prior to Issue, because the parts are being Tracked.

The only way I know to get this message is when you try to do this:

  • Manufactured part is multi-level tracked, order based lot tracked.
  • Shop Order Lot Size = 10.
  • Lot Tracked component has QPA = 1, so 10 required.
  • Manually issue 6 of the lot-tracked component.
  • If you approve the final operation for a quantity greater than 6 (e.g., 8) you will receive the message “There are not enough reservations to issue this amount…” as you’ve only issued enough to receive 6. You do not have to reserve before issuing, you can manually issue as you are doing, you can only approve/receive a quantity for which sufficient material has been issued.

So is there a chance the quantity being approved exceeds the amount issued?

The part is not set up to be multi-level tracked.

For the component material that you are receiving this message:

  • What is the setting for Reserve/Issue method on the Materials tab?
  • Is this component connected to the operation you are approving?
  • Are you selecting ‘Backflush’ when approving the operation?

  • We always use the Reserve/Issue method of Reserve.
  • The components are connected to the operation being approved.
  • We never select Backflush when approving an operation.

I forgot to mention that this is for a repair shop order.

In your scenario, has a sufficient quantity of each op-connected material line been reserved and/or issued to satisfy the op report quantity?

If not, you will receive this message (Apps10) “Insufficient reservations for the component part XXXX on the order XXXXXX. The reserve/issue method for the component is Reserve and it has to be reserved before it is issued.”
