Hi all,

Frequently we have to make a tool used for manufacturing a part.

We create the tool in IFS and connect it to a routing.

But how do we handle that the tool must be manufactured before we can release the shop order for the part?

Hello, you can link the manufacturing tool to a serial object (service and maintenance module in Apps9) where you can create a work order for it to be manufactured. However I am not sure if this will flag that it needs to be manufactured before the shop order will run, whoever this might be a good place to start and some custom events might be the best way to flag this to production

Hi,

In addition to that, a Tool/Equipment can be connected to a Manufacturing Tool Instance. The tool/equipment can be used for resource planning and as a maintenance object.

The tool/equipment needs to be connected to the site defined for the manufacturing tool. The manufacturing tool instance cannot be connected to more than one tool/equipment, but one tool/equipment can be connected to manufacturing tool instances on different sites. The tool/equipment needs to be connected to the same site as the manufacturing tool.

From the Resource Navigator window:

  1. Open the Resource Navigator window.
  2. Query for a resource structure.
  3. Select a resource of type Tool/Equipment in the tree structure.
  4. Right-click, then click Connect Manufacturing Tool Instance...
  5. Alternatively, on the Details tab, right-click and then click Connect Manufacturing Tool Instance...

From the Manufacturing Tool window:

  1. Open the Manufacturing Tool window:
  2. Query for a manufacturing tool
  3. On the Tool Detail tab, select a tool instance.
  4. Enter a tool/equipment ID in the Tool/Equipment field, or use the List of Values.

Hope this clarifies the issue at hand.
