For a manufactured part,if we set the Reserve/Backflush option to Manual in the Product structure and run a shop order flow,it would allow a user to issue material less than the shop order lot size but would also allow to receive the full quantitiy after operations are reported.any specific reason for this?
Hi Dasuni,
With 'Manual' option in Reserve/Issue Method, Material needs to be manually reserved or issued. When receiving Shop Order the System will only verify that some quantity has been issued when the shop order is received. In other words the only validation expected when receiving the shop order is that ANY quantity of the material has been issued. If an least a single quantity of component is issued from Manual issue part then System will allow to receive the Full shop order quantity.
This information of already given in help texts of later versions of the Application. But this information is missing in Apps10 documentation therefore as a correction for this issue PD team hope to update the documentation in Apps 10 as well.
The value in Reserve/ Back flush method determines how the material is allowed to be reserved/issued to the shop orders.
Possible values are:
Reserve: Except when performing manual issue, material needs to be reserved before issuing can be done.
Backflush: Only manual reservations can be done, if not reserved, material will be issued by backflush.
Reserve and Backflush: Automatic reservation and backflush are both allowed.
Manual: Material needs to be manually reserved or issued. The system will only verify that some quantity has been issued when the shop order is received.
This value does not affect backflush for production schedule receipts, or automatic inventory netting for DOP orders."
Therefore the simplified material checkbox and its validation will not be considered when you are using the Reserve/Backflush method = Manual.
