Hi, Currently , my Customer want to import CAD file(Dassult ENOVIA) into IFS.

It means, IFS read the CAD file, recegozie the EBOM , import into IFS as product-stucture.

I know there is a tools called “CAD Adapter” , and IFS can do API with that “CAD Adapter”.

https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/foundation1/050_development/024_integration/280_ifs_applications_business_components/060_CAD_Integration_API/default.htm

My question is:

  1. For “CAD Adapter” , it is something customer need to buy by himself?   (IFS doesn’t offer)
  2. After customer buy “CAD Adapter”, the developer need developer an intergation tool  through the IFS-CAD-Intergration-API?

      Is my understand correct?

      Is there any more Out-Of-the-Box tool existing?

Thanks,

Shou,

I cannot speak towards the CAD Adapter, but Novacura has developed an integration for IFS and Dassault Enovia. The integration uses xPDM and parses the XML provided to convert to IFS Engineering Parts and associated structures. In versions 20x, this can be replaced by REST web-services. As a low-code development platform, Novacura Flow, allows for the flexibility to develop the integration to customer specific requirements through citizen development.

If you would like to discuss further, feel free to direct message me.

Thanks for your answer.

I would like to ask, currently IFS perfer Dell-Boomi as its Intergratin Partner,

so, instead of Novacura  , does Dell-Boomi also offer CAD file intergration?

IFS has (at least) 2 partners for CAD integration: CADLink and CADTalk. It's best to contact them to talk about the possibilities (or check with your partner channel representative).

We’ve been asked the same thing quite frequently - our advice is generally to work with a CAD adapter specialist. We’ve previously spoken to Elmo Solution and QBuild, both of whom appear to have a neat tool to do exactly that.

We implemented Elmo Solution to one of our branches that did not have PDM system. I’d recommend this approach. For PDM - IFS connections we use biztalk to do transformations and enrichment of data. And on IFS side we have custom made interface.

But in a simple case the “Elmo approach” is a quick and straightforward - it does most things one might want from an interface.

@pekkan

Hi Pekkan,

Thank you for the nice comment!

 @Shou ,

Based on our recent research, Boomi does not have integrations with any CAD, PDM or PLM applications whatsoever, which is not surprising. Such integration is not a suitable use case for Boomi.

CAD data is a key component of product design and supports a wide range of downstream processes including virtual prototyping, work instructions, and technical publications. Managing CAD data through enterprise processes provides a huge advantage for the business and is often a top priority of PLM initiatives.
