PDM - Engineering Revision Transfer - Make and purchased (raw)

Forum|alt.badge.img+7

Hi,
our customer has the following requirements.

They have 3-Site, for example:
A
B
C

He create an “Engineering Part” with “Provide Code” and “Product Structure”, for example:
“Part Number”  = 1212
“Provide Code” = Make

The next step would be “Engineering Revision Transfer Action”.

The “Part Type” per Site are:
A = Manufactured
B = Purchased (raw)
C = is not needed

For Site A with “Part Type” “Manufactured” it does the transfer.

For Site B with “Part Type” “Purchased (raw)”  it does not  the transfer! This is the Error message, I understand that, but this situation exists and I think not only in this company.

Is there a way to transfer a “Engineering Part” with “Part Type” manufactured and “Product Structure” as a “Purchased (raw)” Part?

Would appreciate a timely response, thank you in advance for your assistance.

BR,
Milanko

@CHJYLK Your example is only possible if you have not inserted an part in the Eng Part Structure (tab "Consists Of"). Otherwise, only the part type "Purchase" is possible for the transfer,

In this situation there are two possibilities:

  1. Change the part type at the 2nd site as described by CHJYLK (but only "Purchased" is possible). Then delete the BOM part in the Inventory Part and then delete the BOM. Then the part type can be changed to "Purchased (Raw)".

  2. Do not create the Eng Part on the 2nd site via transfer but via "Create Inventory Part" using a "Purchased (Raw)" part template:

Hi,

Since you are transferring the part to a different site it is allowed. Change the  part type in Engineering Revision Transfers page prior to assigning the part for transfer.

Since you have already assigned the part for transfer, go to Detail Transfer and cancel the job. Then go to Engineering revision Transfer Actions and set the “PDM Preliminary Rev. Change ” to “Not Changed”.

The part will again be visible in Engineering Revision Transfers page for the site. Change the part type to Purchase (raw) and assign for transfer again. This would allow you to transfer the part as Purchase (raw)

If an item is a structure parent in Engineering, the component/child can be a phantom and the item can still transfer at Purchased (raw).

We have done that for parts of our design that we cannot manufacture; injection molded parts are a great example where I work:

  • Molded part (Buy)
    • Polycarbonate XYZ123 (Phantom)

The molded part will successfully transfer as Purchased (raw).
