Part XXXX is not allowed to be handled as Not Consumed
Community,
Have you seen this message ? This error message prompted when we are doing engineering part transferring to manufacturing site. Prior to this revision, we already have 2 engineering revisions transferred.
Question,
why this error message?
we found we could avoid this error by switch on checkbox Allow as Not Consumed in Part window, but, is this the right way to handle this error?
kindly advise.
Thank you.

Hi Ron,
Yes, it is the right way that first here in the part the "Not consumed" must be allowed.
Best regards, Mike
@mike.brukner Thank you for your input.
my concern is, the EBOM got thousands of parts, we need to set all components “Allow as Not Consumed”?
apparently, we cannot do manually on this part by part, we have to use script to update this checkbox.
Thank you.
Hi Ron,
The reason for this checkbox in the main part is that this function should only be activated sporadically and not fundamentally for all parts. This of course has a major influence on recalculations and stock levels/demands. So it's a security idea.
If you still want to activate this generally, you can check whether this can also be solved via an event. For example, when creating the inventory part via the transfer, this checkbox is then set to "Active" in the corresponding main part via the event. This is a possible solution for an automation.
Best regards, Mike
@mike.brukner Thank you Mike.
@ronhu after the second transfer was performed for part 1049619, was the inventory part type changed to Expense? If so, when you transfer a parent of it the system wants to flag 1049619 as Not Consumed in the product structure, but the setting on the Part (master) will not allow this if it is NO or OFF.
@matt.watters Thank you for your input.
i just checked the part 1049619, its part type does not change. the only changed in site planning is, we are doing project delivery, we don’t want to system generate thousands of shop orders, so we changed the provide code in Project Product code from Make to Phantom, Demand to No Demand, hence system will drill down and bypass the demand for the parts. but this only happens for Make parts, not Buy parts. Apparently 1049619 part type is Purchased(Raw).
