You can try using Planning Method =

I’ve done that and it solves the problem (removing forecast) but it doesn’t drive purchasing req’s when orders are made. Instead, our projected on hand just keeps going in the negative.

Hello,

Are you shop order still in Planned status? It was a while since I tested planning method N, but as I remember the generation of PO Reqs kicks in when shop order gets released. (Actually when the shop order component lines gets released)

Also, a small netting occurs, and here it is worth mentioning that system uses the information you see in the Order Proposal tab in Inventory Part Availability Planning page. It is important to understand it doesn’t see MRP exploded demand.

(Above part does not use planning method N, it uses H (DDMRP) )

System looks what is happening within: Required Date of the Shop Order Component + the leadtime of the component. So, yeah, you can say this is a pull principle. Just thinking about it… You need to release your shop orders in time in order to get purchase material into stock when needed.

If shop orders are created in Released state, then Next Level Demand Netting occurs when shop order is created.

Cheers,

Mats
