How can I configure MTO- Make to order process in IFS ?

Which fields are critical and where can i found them ?

Hi @Ffigueirinhas,

You can create a MTO process by following the below steps,

1. Set Sourcing Option of the Sales Part as "Shop Order" (Mandatory step)
2. Create the Customer Order and make the demand as below,
(Order Line > Supply Code should be “Shop Order”)

3. Release the customer order > RMB on the Order Line >  Select “Inventory Part Availability Planning”
4. You can find the Shop Order created for demand under the “All” tab

Then you can follow the Shop Order handling process.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

The process described by @Shani Fernando is preferred for single level Make to Order (also called Assembly to Order).

If you have multilevel Make/Purchase to Order you will need to use DOP (Dynamic Order Processing) in IFS. It works according to the Japanese Seiban concepts where a DOP ID is assigned to all MTO/PTO orders and they are pegged together through the DOP structure.

To setup parts to be planned by DOP:

  • Set Default Supply Type = DOP in Inventory Part/Planning Data
  • Set Sourcing Option = DOP Order in Sales Part
  • You can also control whether the DOP structure should be automatically created and released when the customer order is released, or if you want to do this manually (with the possibility to modify the structure before it is released to shop/purchase orders) using the DOP Connection option in Inventory Part page.

When releasing a customer order, a DOP header is automatically created, and depending on the DOP Connection setting you might need to create the DOP structure (according to the BOM/Routing) and release it which will create pegged purchase requisitions and shop orders. If you have parts already in stock, or open supplies available you can net the DOP structure before releasing it.
