Hi everyone,
We’re currently preparing our migration from IFS Apps 9 to IFS Cloud and are looking for insights from others who have made this step — especially around the transition from Project Delivery to Project Deliverables.
As most of you know,
-
Apps 9 supports only Project Delivery
-
Apps 10 includes both Delivery and Deliverables
-
IFS Cloud supports only Deliverables
There’s no direct migration path between Delivery and Deliverables — except by moving through Apps 10 and phasing out one while introducing the other.
We would really appreciate hearing about your experiences:
-
How did you approach the transition from Delivery to Deliverables?
-
What lessons did you learn (in terms of setup, data migration, and ongoing operations)?
-
Did you identify best practices or specific pitfalls to avoid?
Our current line of thinking:
Based on our internal and project migration concept, we believe a smooth migration is mostly about data readiness and timing, not about custom scripts. Key principles we follow are:
-
Ensure all running projects have their Delivery Items in “Designed” or “Realized” status before cut-over, with all shop and purchase orders created.
-
Avoid creating new projects in Apps 9 right before go-live — instead, start them directly as Deliverables in IFS Cloud.
-
Accept that Project Delivery Items won’t be migrated into Deliverable Items — new projects must begin in the new structure.
-
Focus on avoiding incomplete material plans after go-live, which could otherwise require heavy manual corrections.
In short, it’s not about a technical conversion, but about organizing and preparing your data and timing the migration carefully.
Would love to hear how others have tackled this and what practical steps helped make the transition successful.
Best regards,
Jesper
