Hi Community,

I was wondering if anyone had any clever thoughts on how to somehow “link” Inventory Parts that are moulded in a family tool and always need to be ordered together even when part quantities become misaligned and MRP suggests ordering one before the other.

Interested to hear your thoughts :)

Cheers,

Wade

If you have a tool that will always produce both product A and B. Try to create a product structure for product A that includes the total material requirements to produce both A and B, and add B as a By-product. In the same way, add a product structure for B that also produce A as a by-product. Make sure to enable Use as Supply in MRP on the by-product line. Maybe you will also have to enable the Stop BOM Explosion for one of the by-product line.

Now say you have a demand of 10 PCS of A and 5 PCS of B. I believe (but I’m not 100% sure) that MRP will create either only one shop order requisition to produce 10 A, or one requisition to produce 5 B + one requisition to produce 5 A.
