Hello,

We are getting an error message about a cost bucket that we have set up, but have never really used in the past.  We have it set up on one site but the error message says we need that same cost bucket set up on another site because inventory is being transferred between the two.

When I try add cost bucket 111 (the one suddenly being used) I am getting an error ‘’Ids in the range of 0-999 for cost elements and Cost Buckets are reserved for future use’’.

I am trying to figure out how to tell what is calling for cost bucket 111. Nothing on the part seems to be pulling to that cost bucket and I’m stuck in the error messages.

Does anyone happen to know where I should look to see why cost bucket 111 is suddenly being used?

Thanks!

Hi @larissawillett,

This is almost certainly coming from Posting Control tied to the inter-site transfer, not from the part itself.

Quick way to fix:

  1. Open one of the failed transfer transactions
  2. Go to Posting / Accounting Details
  3. Note the Posting Type
  4. Go to Posting Control and search that posting type
  5. You’ll likely find cost bucket 111 assigned there → replace it with a valid bucket (>1000)

Why it’s happening:

  • Buckets 0–999 are reserved, so 111 is invalid
  • Something (usually posting control for inter-site movement) is still referencing it

You don’t need to create bucket 111 — just remove or update where it’s being used

This is definitely not coming from the Posting Control.

This might be coming from the unit cost of that inventory part.

Post above is another AI generated reply which has been reported to the admins.

@larissawillett Does your IFS version support Cost Bucket Cross Reference?

Could you show us the 111 cost bucket definition and the cost element it is using?

What can you see in the inventory part cost details?

Thanks @piswpl  for the correction. I appreciate you providing the accurate diagnosis. I'll be more careful before posting answers on topics I'm not fully certain about."

Hello,

Here are some non-AI-revised comments :-)

First a “history lesson”:

Very long time back it was allowed for the user to enter Cost Buckets and Cost Elements in the range 0-999. And occasionally in the old days customer did enter buckets and elements in the range 0-999. And in perhaps one release later we at RnD added system generated cost element like for example 601- Sales Overhead Trigger. Then, if a customer earlier had created a Cost Element with ID 601 we ran into problems…

Then in June 2011 we did this fix for reserving the range 0-999 for future use.

***********************************

And here below I try to isolate your problem...

Can you search in below page for Cost Bucket 111?

And please do similar search in the overview for Cost Buckets

And finally search for cost bucket 111 in:

Hope it helps to some extent.

Best Regards,

Mats
