In the Project Navigator, when a line is added in the Demand tab, two lines are automatically created in the Activity -> Cost tab with line IDs L01 and S01.

Could anyone please help explain:

  • From where these two cost lines are generated?
  • Which configuration, rule, or process is responsible for creating both L01 and S01?
  • Is this behavior standard in IFS Project or triggered by any specific setup?

Your guidance on where to check or how to control this behavior would be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Where do these cost lines come from?

  • These lines are generated based on Cost Elements defined in the Accounting Rules and the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for the project.
  • Typically, L01 represents Labor cost and S01 represents Service or Subcontract cost. These are standard cost elements in IFS Project Management.

Which configuration or rule triggers this?

  • The behavior is linked to:
    • Cost/Revenue Elements setup in Accounting Rules.
    • The Planned Cost Driver for the activity (e.g., “Connected Objects” or “Estimate”).
    • The Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) assigned to the project.
  • When you add a demand line, the system automatically creates cost lines for the relevant cost elements defined in CBS and accounting rules.

Is this standard or specific setup?

  • Yes, this is standard behavior in IFS Projects when:
    • A CBS is active.
    • Cost elements like Labor and Service are defined.
  • If you see L01 and S01 consistently, it means your environment has these cost elements configured as defaults for activities.
