We have a part that is machined on any 1 of 8 different machines. Each machine is its own work center. Each work center is setup as a different alternate routing for the part. When CRP is calculated, load from shop order requisitions will only appear on the work center that’s on the primary routing. This machine/work center always appears overloaded, while the alternates appear to have plenty of capacity, even though the load will be spread across all machines.

Is it possible to generate load from shop order requisitions to alternate routings?

Thanks,

Eric

Hi @ewats ,

If you want CRP to consider work centers of different alternatives then you need to change the routing alternatives in the shop orders. But, system will consider only the default alternative when shop order requisitions are generated if there are no lot size alternative criteria defined in the routing.

If the 8 different machines can perform the similar functions then instead of creating the 8 work center you can create single work center and define these 8 machines as the resources of this work center. Then CRP will check load on the each resource of this work center and load the operation on the least load resource every time it schedules the operation on this work center.

Hope this helps!!
