Our company does creates manual shop orders for the pre-assembly of equipment based on forecasted need. Business opportunities and sales quotes are used to anticipate future need. My question is, is there a way to peg  a shop order to a business opportunity or sales quote for pre-assembly purposes, since there is no customer order created yet.

There is no way to peg as requested. But should be possible to attach the information related to the sales quotation or business opportunity as an attachment (Document or Media)

 

@hmccabe I worked for a customer that needed to create Shop Order from Sales Quotation. The solution in that case was a custom command on quotation line (RMB since it was in Apps10) to create the SO. SO creation is quite straightforward using a PL/SQL block once the masterdata is correctly setup (inventory part / routing / product structure).

Yes , it should be possible as a customization,
