Question

Cost calculation for different batch sizes

Hello,

When calculating a Part cost in Product costing, it calculates the cost for 1pce or standard batch size. Is it possible to calculate costs for different batch sizes. For example, if our manufactured product is using purchased components and we have a pricing added behind the supplier of the component for several different batch sizes, is it possible to calculate our manufacturing cost for 1pce, 5pcs and 10pcs, so that it take into account those price steps we have from our material supplier?

Hi @Tonkuu,

  • By default, IFS calculates cost based on the standard lot size defined for the part.
  • Batch-related costs (setup, fixed costs) are distributed over that lot size.
  • If you want to calculate for different batch sizes (e.g., 1, 5, 10 pcs), you would typically:
    • Adjust the lot size in the cost calculation scenario.
    • Or use alternate cost sets or templates for different batch sizes.

  1. Configure Cost Templates:
  • Use cost templates to define how costs are calculated for different batch sizes. Include relevant cost buckets such as material costs, operation costs, and overheads.

  1. Perform Batch-Specific Cost Calculations:
  • In the Product Costing module, calculate costs for each batch size by selecting the appropriate cost set and running the cost calculation process. Ensure that the supplier price steps are factored into the material cost calculation.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
