We have some serial parts with an Ownership Type of Customer Owned. We want to change the Ownership Type to Company Owned.

Following are the steps we used to change the Ownership Type. The system requires the Customer (aka. Owner) to be connected to a Supplier before allowing the Ownership to be changed. Is there an alternative way to change the Ownership Type without having to connect customers to suppliers and have purchase orders created?

STEPS

  1. Connect the customers (aka. part owners) to suppliers
  2. Use Inventory Parts In Stock to get a list of the parts to be updated
  3. Right click on the part lines and select Ownership Transfer > Transfer Ownership to Company
  4. Enter a purchase price in the “Transfer Ownership Company” pop up window and click on the button OK
  5. The system automatically creates a purchase order for the amount of the purchase price entered

Hi @hmccabe,

You can use “Count per inventory Part” window.

There you can Count out the existing Customer Owned Serial part and count in with the same serial number and location (you might need to query the part in “Count results per inventory part” window and Approve).

It will assign the ownership as the company owned.

However, the steps that you already use are much more valid than above.

Because, IFS online help text also mentioning the same. Please check below:

“customer-owned, transferred to company-owned stock. This ownership transfer is initiated from the Inventory Part in Stock window. A purchase order is created from a dialog box and the result is a purchase order receipt that changes the ownership of the part quantity, i.e., a receipt in place.”

Thanks,

Jagath
