Capacity alignment between Work Center and Labor Class

We can define for both Work Centers and Labor Classes whether they are going to use Finite or Infinite Capacity. Is it recommended as best practice that these 2 settings be aligned?

If for whatever reason we need to have one value set to Finite Capacity and the other set to Infinite Capacity, which of the two will have precedence.

What would the impact of this scenario be if we were to use Capacity Requirements Planning

It is always the work center time that is used to schedule the shop order (unless you use APB or MSO for scheduling). But the finite capacity setting will not have any impact. System may still load two shop order operations on the same work center or labor class on the same time creating an overload situation. To overcome this, you can use the visual planning charts and Gantt to sequence or reschedule the operations.

The settings for Finite and Infinite Capacity is only considered when scheduling using APB or MSO. Or when running capability check with the site configured to scheduled interim order operations.

CRP does not consider these flags.

Bjorn, very many thanks for the prompt reply but if we take the CRP element out of the question, what is the impact of having a Routing which contains an operation which is linked to a Work Center defined as having Infinite Capacity and also linked to a Labor Class defined as having Finite Capacity. Which of the two will have precedence if the Routing is included in a Shop Order?
