Hi to everyone,

Environment: IFS Cloud 22R2

Looking for a solution for a machine manufacturer

Topic:

In case a request for a demo/rental-machine comes in, the machine has certain requirements. In many cases, an available machine needs to be adjusted to fulfill the needs of the client.

For example, the customer wants to rent a configuration 1 machine, but there is only a configuration 5 in stock.

Required solution:
We need to define the flow how we will communicate the changes that need to be done on a machine before it can be rented out.

And is it possible to issue a part with a certain configuration on a work order and return another configuration of the same part?

We appreciate any help - thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Nadim

It is possible to use a Shop Order of type Repair to convert a part from one Configuration ID to another. However, you will manually have to figure out and add the required components and operations to the order. If you need help to figure out the difference between two configurations you can create one interim header for each configuration and compare them.

Below is a quick guide how to create such repair shop order:

  1. To create a repair shop order for a part, it must have a buildable repair structure (but it can be empty).
  2. Create the repair shop order and before saving you manually type in the Configuration ID of the old product you have in stock.
  3. Release
  4. Use Manual Issue to consume the correct existing product from stock
  5. Click Edit Configuration and change the values to correspond to the new configuration.
    1. Select No to the question whether to update material and operations
  6. Now continue to process the shop order. The part you receive back to stock will have the new Configuration ID.
