Hello,

We have created an embedded work space for Power BI and can by some settings find reports available in the element designer phase.

But if we want to find the details for a report we have no permissions.

What settings or Permissions is required to acces the Element Designer for Power BI-elements?
We have tried all the permission sets in IFS and the user also has access to the report in Power BI service.

Does anyone have a guideline for this or know what’s missing?

Hi @NPGIFSJOMAII

Regarding the 1st issue - could not fetch a token
Have you added the report data mode to the dataset name as mentioned in the documentation?

https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/23r2/040_tailoring/250_lobby_configurations/040_element_designer/100_power_bi_element/#report_data_mode_report_only

Eg:

Have you followed all the steps as per this doc? Specially the last point - “Give the Service Principal Access to the Workspace”

https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/23r2/050_reporting/450_self_hosted_bi_int/080_create_aa_azure_resources/

Also if the PBI reports are running on Tabular models in Analysis service, you have to add the service principal as an admin to the analysis service as well.

This is the projection related to “Power BI Report Editor” page. https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/23r2/050_reporting/400_power_bi_int/060_pbi_report_overview/

To use that page you have to grant this projection to the user.

Thanks, I think we do not have access to the PBIES component. Maybe that could be the reason we can not fetch a token as well?

I would say all other settings is accoirding to ifs.docs that you linked.

Once again, thanks!

@NPGIFSJOMAII
If you can get to the workspace and report LoVs that means the required services should be running (at least the powerbi embed service) and you should be able to fetch a token for the report provided everything is configured correctly.

Is this a IFS managed cloud customer or remote customer?
