I have seen announcements on that external data sources can be connected to Lobbies, since this is still new I have not found anyone who would have knowledge on how this is actually done. Is this for PowerBI lobby elements only or can it be used for all lobby elements? How do you set up an external data source for a lobby? Any advice is welcome.

If I understand correctly, you want an external link from a lobby element. That can be added in the navigation section:
