+2We are using the Time Clock function for our employees and I have a recurring issue whereby an employee will have booked a half day of annual leave and clock out at the half day point or just after. When the employee clocks out, it is causing the absence to become ‘unlinked’ as the system seems to think the employee didn’t take the time off (they did) and gives them the entitlement back.
Has anyone encountered this issue and know how to resolve it?

I have encountered some similar scenarios. This happens when an employees’ clock in and clock out are irregular if an absence has been recorded.
Did you check if the Absence limits have been affected?

It was affecting absence limits; we think it may be an issue with the schedule setup. For our operations employees, they start work at 06:00 and our office employee start at 08:30 - when I’ve set up office employees, between 00:00-08:29, I’ve marked this as ‘Extra Time’, but I’d omitted this for our operations employees.
We’re testing it out in the UAT environment and I’ll report back if this fix resolves the issue.

We resolved the issue (after a lot of testing) - adjusting the schedules to include ‘Extra Time’ resolved the issue however, there’s additional information on how the annual leave should be submitted in various scenarios:
Half day annual leave requests that are booking time off in advance:
Employees should ensure that they select 'Single Day' and then toggle whether it is the first half of the day or the second half.
Employees should clock in and out as normal.
Failing to select whether it’s the first half of the day or the second half of the day triggers the absence to become unlinked as soon as an employee clocks in.
Half day annual leave requests for the same day:
Employees should clock in and out normal.
The annual leave should be submitted after the employee has clocked out on a half day.
Managers can put annual leave on behalf of the employee.
Do not submit the annual leave before clocking out as this is what triggers the absence to become unlinked.
We’re now investigating whether there’s a way for a rule to be set up so annual leave takes priority over the clock ins and doesn’t impact the employees absence limits, but as a temporary measure, our IT manager has set up an email alert for us whenever an absence become ‘Unlinked’ so we can investigate it promptly.
