Hello,

IFS 25R1. HCM module has very flexible access settings. There are 2 blocks of settings: Supervisor Setup Configuration and Access Setup Configuration.

Access Setup Configuration is the block of settings responsible for the access the user-employee can have access to other employees (simple example is the list of employees).

My question is regarding Supervisor Setup Configuration block. It has 3 options (see attached) and I can’t notice the impact on access functionality switching between those options. The only thing I noticed: option Team and Supervisor allows to apply Supervisor directly at personal or employee files.

What is the panned impact on access functionality of  Supervisor Setup Configuration block?

Regards,

Roman.

@fordorin : This functionality is used to derive the supervisor of employee

@vickyrohilya thank you for the answer. Screenshot from 24R1 is clear and understandable.

But in 25R1 there are 2 blocks: Supervisor and Access. Supervisor’s block functionality is not clear for me.

Hi @fordorin - Normally he supervisor for a particular employee is based on the organizational hierarchy where the supervisor in the employee file will be based on immediate parent position or above.

There are many business cases where the supervisor is not the immediate parent position or above which results in creating a new supervisor access setup to approve time and expenses of that employee.

‘Team’ is a new functionality introduced by IFS where it will include people working together and teams do not have an own hierarchy,

So If you have a situation like I mentioned above you can create a team and assign a supervisor for the team with the relevant access, and if you had selected
Option 1 - System will look for the employee’s supervisor first in the organizational setup and then positions setup

Option 2 - Supervisors will be based on the supervisor/team assignment.

Option 3 - System will look for the employee’s supervisor first in the ‘TEAM’ and then if not available search for organizational setup

Please remember the option selected here will affect the entire company.

If you want to test this feature Create a team and assign members and a supervisor the supervisor assigned in the team will be the supervisor displayed in employee  file.

@Dharshankumaar Mahendran thank you for detailed answer.

It works like you described. Before team was created Supervisor was taken from Positions Access setup. As soon as team was created the Supervisor was taken from Team.

But creating the Team I could see the notification (or recommendation) to change Access Setup Configuration to Team as well. (attached).

So, Supervisor can approve absence and other subordinate’s request without access to subordinate’s profile.  Is it correct?

I checked: I can see Supervisor row in subordinate’s profile and the Supervisor doesn't have access to Employees profile.

Hi @fordorin,

When you created the team and assigned a supervisor, you would have also assigned an access role. The supervisor’s permissions depend on the attributes included in that role. For example, if the access role has the Time Authorization attribute, the supervisor will be able to authorize employee time

If this resolves your query, please mark the answer as the Best Answer so it can help others in the future.

Hi @Dharshankumaar Mahendran that was my question about. Thank you.
