Changing Direct Superior on Position

Hi all,

(On IFS10, UPD7. In process of updating to UPD9)

We had a org change, causing that the current Direct Superior for a position is to be updated from Position A to Position B. As per IFS standard, you cannot just do that.

But you can also not duplicate the line and assign another Direct Superior, as then it complains about the record already existing.

Playing with the Valid To date is also not possible, as all the employee currently connected to the Position are blocking this.

Has anyone found a solution for this, that doesn’t involve having to update multiple Employee Records?
All the employees stay in the current position, it’s only the manager that is to become a different position.

Hi @Arend

On the Graphical Position Structure, have you tried to drag and drop the subordinate position under the new supervising position ?

You will then get new record in the “Position History” tab

I hope this would help you solve your problem.

Kind regards

Thanks Lénaïc.

This did the trick.

Now a quick follow-up question. What is the impact from the valid From and Valid To dates here?

E.G. will the new “parent” position only be able to approve expenses created after 03-06-2021?
Or also expenses created before?

The valid From and Valid To dates in the “Position History” tab will have an impact on the “Organization Chart” window where you can select a specific date to view the organization available at this date.

The HR access right (like approve expenses) need to be set up for this new position through the “Position - Access Setup” window.
