Lobby: Showing field description the page parameters

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Hi,

We are trying to make our lobbies more user friendly by offering the field description in stead of the field name when opening the page parameter for a lobby (IFS Cloud, 24R1).

Right now users are confronted with the field name (f.e. PROJECT_ID) in Page parameters. In Page properties it is possible to add a description, but this description is not shown when opening Page parameters.

Is there a way to show this description?

(I know it is possible to change the parameter/field name, but that implies that all of the data sources and elements have to be changed.)

Hi @thijsotte, Thank you for reaching out with your query.

As a superuser, you can access the parameters table via Page Properties in the lobby page, where the system provides the capability to set descriptions for each page parameter displayed in table.

When users navigate the lobby page, they should see the assigned descriptions next to the lobby title. Additionally, when they open the Page Parameters panel to enter values, the given description should be displayed as the Name, with the actual field name visible on hover.

However, we have identified that while the description correctly appears on the lobby page, it does not display in the Page Parameters panel. This behavior was identified as a defect in IFS Cloud 24R1, and the issue has already been resolved in IFS Cloud 25R2 and later releases.

Additionally, besides descriptions, you also have the option to set default values, which could further improve the user experience depending on your specific requirements.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Best regards,
Shakya

Hi Shakya,

Thank you for your answer. If I understand correctly, the fact that only the field name shows in the Page Parameters and not the description (as shown in the attached file) is fixed in 25R2?

Kind regards,

Thijs Otte

Hi @thijsotte

Let me clarify again. Once the superuser updates the Description from Page Properties, the assigned Description will be displayed on the lobby page for the end user. Please refer to the admin and user view below for reference.

Also, I’d like to correct a small typo in my previous response—the issue has already been resolved in IFS Cloud 24R2 onwards.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,
Shakya

Hi @shakya ,

Thank you for the clarification.

I think that’s where the problem lies. The description doesn’t show in our lobbies, just the field name (see the image above). Do you know how we can get this description visible?

Hi @thijsotte

As I mentioned, we identified this defect in IFS Cloud 24R1, which is why the description does not appear in your lobbies. And that this issue has been resolved in IFS Cloud 24R2 and later releases.

Best regards,
Shakya
