Question

Layout problem in IEE for some users - form covering tabs

Hi,

do we have someone here who happens to know how to fix a layout issue for some users?

I highlighted below the effect that some users see - form fields covering tabs. The issue is that the Admin who is able to help normally, cannot see this issue, so cannot move the elements around safely.

Any ideas?

Hi @Maja Stanislawska

did you checked the layout of there basis profile?

I assume that somebody moved the fields in the basis profile of these users.

The issue is definitely a user profile issue. The layouts of the forms can be updated by the users (if they have that permission) or, it can be updated by the person responsible for a base profile of a group of users. Fields can be moved around, lengthened or shortened. Their headings can be moved around the same way. It is all saved against the profile.

These users have a personal profile layout for this page, so it is overcoming their base profile.

The admin person can go to their personal profile from Users window and delete the layout of this page in their personal profile.

Hi,

thank you for your replies. We had them reviewed and tested. It looks like it was own IFS delivery that had a detrimental impact on some user layouts. Generally, after importing permission sets after the release, we got a more positive feedback from end users.

Investigation is continuing as it is not exactly clear how IFS delivery actually affected the layout.

Hi @Maja Stanislawska,

During a delivery installation or a reconfiguration, if you have the “Import Profiles” option checked in the ‘Database Import and Deploy” screen of the installer wizard, it would import the profiles that are placed in the repository folder of the application server into the database. If the files stored in the repository are not up to date or corrupted, this kind of issues could happen. It would be best to have these check boxes unchecked, unless it is advised to do so in the delivery instructions or you have a specific reason to import them.

Refer to the documentation regarding the Database Import and Deploy part of the installer here:

https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/foundation1/020_installation/500_references/020_ifs_applications_installer/020_ui_reference_itd/035_ifs_home_itd/080_import_data/default.htm?nobanner=true

Hope this helps!
