Hi,

Our customer has a requirement to remove/ modify some custom navigator nodes added to the navigator tree. Customer environments are currently at 21R2, and it is not possible to remove/ modify the custom nodes added to the navigator tree, receiving a client error (this is a bug and RnD informed that the fix will be only available with 22R1).

As a workaround, our customer is questioning whether it is possible to reinitialize the navigator tree.
Does anyone know whether this is possible?

Thank you!

HI @Shani Fernando ,

Are these Custom nodes configured on the global context?

Hi @Odatha Bandara,

Yes, context is set to global.
Do we have a workaround for this issue? Or is it possible to reinitialize the navigator tree?

Hi @Shani Fernando,

This is something that you can try out and see the applicability and feasibility according to the customer’s need and requirements (here it would be mainly dependent on the amount of the configurations they have done to the navigator).

  • If they only have just the unwanted configurations that they want to delete from the navigator, they can just ‘Unpublish’ the configurations.

Cons – whenever they later do a configuration and publish it, the unwanted configurations will also be published again.

  • But if there are many configurations currently and will be in the future as well, you can try this way.
  1. Unpublish the configurations in the Global context.
  2. Create a custom context (This will create a configuration context on top of the unpublished global, basically it will be equal to the core)
  3. Now do the configurations that you want to do on the Custom context and Publish (Be careful when doing it, so that you don’t want to delete any later, if not you will have to create a custom context again)
  4. Assign this context to a user/set of users/ company etc. by using the page ‘Configuration Context Mappings’ (Solution Manger > Configuration > Configuration Context Mappings).
  5. Don’t forget to clear the Mapping cache by clicking on user menu> Caches> Clear Mapping Caches.

Cons – Will have to redo the configurations and assign the context to the users.

Please see if this is doable and if not please let us know for further decision making with regard to this.

Thank you and Regards!

Hi @Odatha Bandara,

Thanks a lot for the information.
I’ll share this with the customer and see whether unpublishing all the configurations/ creating a new custom context work for them as per their business requirements.

If the above-mentioned solutions are not working for them, I'll update you.

Best Regards,
Shani
