Dear all,

on two machines running Windows 11 we can not install the latest developer studio version.

After the configuration, the popup dissapears and no new Wizards appears.

My problem does not reflect this solved topic:

Any hints?

I found some log data in the user folder

\.developerstudioparent-installer\log

Hi @JohannesKnust

Can you attach the complete log file to this thread?

And just to confirm the installer works without any issue on Windows 10 machines?

Regards,

/Rifki

Dear @Rifki Razick
I can confirm the installation went through on other machines with windows 10.

Attached the Log.

Best,

Johannes

→ Maybe interested; I had no problems to install and run Version 10.82

→ Furthermore, the process is unlimited ongoing in the task manager; I think its a problem to call the install window

→ If just someone could give me the parameters to install without ui …. I thing that would be the solution

Hi @JohannesKnust ,

Thanks for notifying us about the installation issue in Windows 11 and providing logs. At the moment IFS Developer Studio is certified and tested on Windows 10 as mentioned in our supported platforms policy. Supported Platforms - Product Policy.pdf

We are in the process of testing on Windows 11. The information you have provided will be useful during that process, thanks again.

Regards,

/Rifki

Hi @Rifki Razick
Thanks for the quick response!
Do you have some ETA?

Best,

Johannes

Hi @JohannesKnust

Apologies I cannot provide an exact ETA, but earliest would most likely be around Q3.

/Rifki

Hi,

I’m running IFS Developer Studio on Windows 11. Never had problems with the installation.

Thanks for informing @StartStop but it seems like you are using an older version of Developer Studio 22.1.x whereas the new version is 22.120.x

Hi @StartStop

Thanks for informing and glad to know that tool works fine in Windows 11. But still we have not officially confirmed as Developer Studio Tool works fine in Windows 11 as Rifki mentioned in above comments.

We have tested the tool only in Windows 10 as mentioned in the Support policy document. Windows 11

Certification is yet to be done.

22.1.8561 is the latest tool version available in Portal. So what you have is correct. But the installer, title shows as “IFS Developer Studio 22.120 Installer” which is incorrect and need to be changed. It’s a cosmetic bug and we will correct it soon.

@JohannesKnust  do you also have the same windows 11 version - (Windows 11 Pro - 21H2. ) or a different one?

If it’s the same can you try once again by downloading a fresh installer from Developer portal. Uninstall the tool if you have already installed 22.120 or a 22.1 version from your machine. After uninstalling make sure to follow the steps given in

 Thanks

Harshini

HI @hamalk

my Windows specification is as follows

Edition    Windows 11 Pro
Version    22H2
Installed on    ‎5/‎16/‎2022
OS build    22621.1
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22632.1000.0

According to the mentioned steps

  1. First close the tool if you have it opened.
    1. Done, not installed...
  2. Delete the ”User Directory” content. Locate the directory using the following path, and delete the entire content inside “22.12” folder “C:\Users\hamalk\AppData\Roaming\DeveloperStudio\22.12”
    1. Only 10.82 available
  3. Download a  fresh installer from Developer Portal, and reinstall the tool
    1. same behaviour, after the inital configuration is done, no new setup screen is upcoming!; the old version 21.82 is working well!
  4. Tool should get installed without any issue now.
    1. No :(

@JohannesKnust

Thanks a lot for testing and getting back to us, we will do more testing when we start certification testing on Windows 11 for Developer Studio and get back to you.

THanks

Harshini

Done. I found a workaround.

@JohannesKnust  Great News, what is the workaround? would you like to share ? then it will be helpful for another person

Thanks

Harshini

You can install it on WIndows 10 and just move the installation folder to your new device.

The shortcut for the desktop item you can generate on the new machine from the bin folder.

For some tweaks you can adjust the developer studio config fiel in the etc folder.

Hi Harshini,

Is IFS Developer Studio already certified for Windows 11?

@Rifki Razick I believe https://ifs.sharepoint.com/:b:/r/sites/ProductInformation/SiteAssets/SitePages/Policies/Supported%20Platforms%20-%20Product%20Policy.pdf?csf=1&web=1&e=4a0lU4 is not accessible for Partners users. Is there another place where we can check the updated info on supported platforms?

Regards,

Hi @stedile.jefferson

Yes, we have done windows 11 21H2 certification testing for Developer studio. You can install the tool in Windows 11 21H2. it works fine.
