Hello,

I’ve heard that, at least in IFS21R1, there will be no support for IAL settings. I know that an IAL is view in the database and IFS (up to version 10) functionality to support this.

One item is the option to schedule the IAL to be prepared.

What will be the method to handle IALs in IFS Cloud if they are no longer supported?

This comes from the question: If an upgrade is done from IFS 10 to IFS Cloud, how to upgrade/support the existence of these IALs.

Hi @eqbstal

Existing IAL objects will still be available after upgrading to 2020 R1 and it will be possible to use them for lobbies, quick reports etc. However, it will not be possible to create new IAL objects.

All existing IAL objects and their underlying views will remain without any change when you upgrade to 2020 R1 and upwards. Different types of reports and integrations which access those existing IAL views will also work without any issues in most cases.

However, if an existing IAL view gets invalidated due to changes to the underlying database schema, it will not be possible to maintain it using IAL Object Developer window in IEEas before. In that case, it is required to extract the definition of the IAL object into a new view definition. New view can be created using IFS developer studio via a new customization project. After that, it is required to modify the objects that consume the IAL object to refer the new view instead of the invalidated IAL object.

Use cases of IALs will be addressed and solved differently in future releases of IFS Cloud.

Hope this answers your question!
