We would like to see the project number related to advance invoices when we run GL Balance analysis detail for accounts receivable (ie. IP17) and deferred revenue (ie. IP19) .

 

In the customer order, I populated the Project field in the Pre-Posting.   I also set IP17 and IP19 to have a Project code part and Control Type Pre posting.   Then created an advanced invoice.

 

When I printed the invoice, I got the error below.

 

 

 

Is it possible to push the invoice through without assigning an activity sequence in the pre posting of the order?

If your project source is the project module then you have 2 options. Either you must give an activity ID when entering the customer invoice. Or you must exclude the GL account from project follow up.

This is the IP19 account in my case and I have excluded the account from project follow up. When an account is excluded from project follow up, entering an activity ID when creating a transaction is not permitted. So you wont get such an error.

On the other hand, you will not see transactions in project navigator window for this account.

If the Exclude from Project Follow Up was initially checked then it was unchecked, will the transactions (past and present) then become visible in the project navigator window ?

If the field is checked and transactions are created, then it is not possible to uncheck. Or if it was unchecked and any transaction is created then you cannot check it. So you must decide whether account should be excluded from project or not before using it.

You mentioned in your first reply that “Either you must give an activity ID when entering the customer invoice. “   When creating an advanced invoice, do you know where the activity ID can be entered?

If the source of invoice manual customer invoice or instant invoice then you should enter on invoice window the information. If it is a customer invoice then it should come from customer order pre-posting
