I would like to create separate top nodes within the same accounting structure in IFS Cloud, so that the same code part value (e.g. for code part C) can be placed under different top nodes for different groupings (e.g. one group with topnod for “Budget” and another with topnod “Segment” reporting).

The problem is that in the IFS Cloud interface, I cannot "deselect" an existing node in order to create a truly separate top node. When I try to add a new top node, it always ends up under the already existing one, instead of creating two independent hierarchies within the same structure.

My requirement is to have two parallel groupings (two top nodes) in the same accounting structure, both using the same code part values.

This is how it looks when I created two topnodes since I cannot “deselect” the any of them to create a new one.

Hi,

The accounting structure is used to group the code part values.  It’s designed so that a code part value (for example Cost center 100) can only be used one time within the same structure.  It’s a control so values are not duplicated.

You can copy the structure - so you have two structures.

When I see this… My requirement is to have two parallel groupings (two top nodes) in the same accounting structure, both using the same code part values.  I tend to see this as a desired way to get a solution.  If we can solve the need using a different process, then we can try and craft a solution.

As written, this is not possible.   However, I’m highly confident we could find a solution using any number of IFS tools.

It’s possible that attributes would provide the solution or attributes combined with the structure.   Any code part can have attributes any number of attributes for example Group 1 and group 2.    Any code part value can then be used with the attributes. For example, cost center 100 can have different values for group 1 and group 2, essentially allowing the same code part value to be in multiple groups.     The downside of attributes is that it does not support the multi-level concept as a structure, however you can bult that same concept with multiple attributes. Just not as elegant.

Then your financial reporting can organize the values (structures) as desired.

Best regards,

Thomas
