Hello

Is there a way to disable a difference code so it is not available for users to use it in future.

we cannot delete it because it is being used historically but with process improvement we are more specific with our naming conventions and don’t want users to accidentally use that old obsolete  code.(UNKNOWN_DIFFERENCE) . we are using IFS8.

Thanks

I don’t know of a way to disable the code, and there are similar fields in IFS that are like this.  For instance, we have this with the Market code on Customer Order as business definitions change.  We handle these kinds of fields in this manner.

First, change the description of the undesired value to something like this:

Markets

Then create an Event Action similar to this:

Bad Market Code Event

This works reasonably well for all fields that have list of values that can’t be disabled and can’t be removed due to history.  Of course the users have to be trained and reminded.

Thanks @ShawnBerk , that looks good . i will surely give it a try.
