Hi All,

Situation:

Company A -site A has bought different old machines from various sistercompanies. So in their stock they currently have (as example)

Serial Object 1 - Object Site B

Serial Object 2 - Object site C

These have been purchased, and are in fact now full property of Site A. But off course - the purchase did not change the ‘Object Site’.

Now they want to do a rework of a machine Serial Object 3 using modules extracted from Serial Object 1 and 2. So they will remove some modules from Serial Object 1 and 2 and put these into Serial Object 3. The modules themselves are also Serial Objects and have the same Object site as their parent object.

First step: We extract the modules using ‘Work Order’ - ‘Returns’.

  • From Serial Object 1 we extract:
    • Serial Object 1-1 ; Object site B
    • Serial Object 1-1 ; Object site B
  • From Serial Object 2 we extract:
    • Serial Object 2-1 ; Object site C

Second step: We use “Work Order” - “Materials” to issue the 3 extracted modules, and after that we use ‘Place Serial in Equipment structure’ to connect Serial Object 1-1,Serial Object 1-2 and Serial Object 2-1 to Serial Object 3.

But now we get the error: ‘Employee does not exist’.

So because our user is only an employee of company A - site A, he does not have access to Site B and C and that’s most likely why this error happens because the Serial Objects that we are using still have Object site B and C on the Serial Object record.

So despite the fact that these Serial Objects were purchased by site A and are fully owned by site A, they stil have not the full rights to use these modules in their work order processes because the Serial Objects still have Object Site B or Object Site C.

Question: if site A has ful ownership - why does the system still complain that the modules are in site B/C? What is the solution here? Our user cannot be an employee of those sistersites because of HR reasons.

Our customer does not understand - if they purchased the machine - why is the system still complaining about user rights when they want to rework that machine?

Best Regards

Roel
