Hi. What is the best way to generate and send a Sales call to the schedule board in FSM for allocation to a technician. Can this be done through the Opportunities function?

When you are talking about a sales call are you talking about a sales order coming from an ERP to be configured / installed at a customer or are you talking about a sales person has been on-site and there is work to do?

We have out of the box integrations with Salesforce and Dynamics CRM.

If it is an order coming from ERP to be installed you could use FSM Connect or Dell Boomi.

It could originate as a sales quote for a request, and then when the quote is accepted it would be turned into a request with tasks.

The original thought behind opportunities is the step before the quote, the technician is out in the field, they see an opportunity where we might be able to sell something additional and it gets passed to sales. Opportunities do not automatically turn into requests / tasks though.

Hi. We ask our technicians to generate 2 sales leads per day by calling into to various places on their travels so Opportunities would work well for that. We also would like to send them some planned visits via the schedule board. Is this possible? Is there any documentation on the Opportunities module in FSM?

Thanks

Hi. Is there a way to create an Opportunity in FSM backend and send it to a mobile device?

Hi @PirtekKH,

The documentation for Opportunities is found by clicking the question mark at the top right whilst on the screen although this is not very detailed.

I believe the usual route would be for an Opportunity to be created under which you would hope to then generate a Quote. The quote can then be converted on approval to a request with tasks that can be assigned to technicians and sent to mobile.

To get something down to the mobile straight from the opportunity to check in on the progress would likely need a new business rule with some trigger on the opportunity and an output of generating a new request. For instance when the Opportunity is in a particular status. The Business rule would also need to update the trigger field to prevent the Business Rule from re-triggering needlessly.

Hope this helps,
