We user Repair Centre in FSM U27 and I have had a look at the Repair Board screen to establish if it is of interest to us. At first glance, functionality looks quite basic so I just want to confirm I have not missed anything. My observations are that;

  • Tasks are static on the Repair Board. They do not lengthen in time if a repair tech is delayed on a particular tasks. Nor do subsequent, yet to be started tasks move with the timeline if the current, in progress task is delayed.
  • The Repair Board cannot handle tasks straddling two days. In our example we work a 09:00 to 17:00 shift only. If a two hour task starts at 16:00, the Repair Board will expect its completion at 18:00 when it should in fact be 10:00 the following day.
  • Completed tasks disappear from the Repair Board meaning supervisors lose the visual display of all tasks completed during the shift.
  • It is not possible to scroll to the previous days Repair Board date to drag and drop any yet to be started tasks to current day. The only option is to manually access the task and adjust the planned start date/time.

Given there are no threads on the Community Forum on Repair Board functionality (other than mine) I suspect very few customers are using it, perhaps given the limitations I have listed however I thought it worth asking the question in case I am missing some config that may address some of the topics above.

Thanks,

Barry

Hi @MWAMAITTEAM

The repair board and schedule board do not do dynamic scheduling. The purpose is to present current assigned tasks and allow a user to assign or adjust tasks to techs.

Answers to your specific questions follow

  1. Tasks do not dynamically change their length if a job is taking longer or shorter than the original amount of time. Overall duration shown on the board is based on the plan start and the plan end. If the plan start or plan end is modified, repair board will reflect that after it refreshes. Movement on the repair board is done using the drag and drop method. The duration of a task can be increased or decreased by hovering the mouse over the end of the task box on the left side to increase duration by starting sooner or on the right side by changing the end time.
  2. Repair board will not split a task between two days.
  3. The completed tasks come off the repair board because of the primary table constraint for the screen, it will exclude all tasks with a task.status of CA (cancel), CL (close), CO(complete). If this was not the case, the board could end up trying to load a large number of records that using the screen could become problematic.
  4. Drag and drop from past dates is possible.
    1. Make sure the number of visible days is greater than one.
    2. Click on the calendar icon at the top of the screen it looks like a box with a left and right pointing triangle on either side. When the calendar opens up click on a date that is in the past.
    3. Now you can click and drag a task by holding the selected task and moving the mouse to the right side of the grid. The grid will now start to scroll to more current dates. As long as the number of days selected takes you to the current date, you can then drop the task on the person and time wanted.

If you have additional questions regarding the repair board you may be able to find the answers listed for the Schedule Board. The schedule board is like the repair board except that it will only show field service task vs internal repair tasks.

Thank you,

Morris

Thanks for the detailed feedback Morris.
