Is there a recommendation as to which collation to choose for a FSM Database running on MS SQL Server?

Hi Daniel,

unfortunately, the FSM Installation Guide doesn’t include any recommendation - only for Oracle character set.

However, to my knowledge our customers usually use SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS or SQL_Latin1_General_CI_AS for SQL Servers.

Hope that helps!

Best regards
Roman

Currently we are running FSM 6.4 on SQL Server 2016 with SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS collation.

My DB team would like to change the collation to Windows Collations (Latin1_General_CI_AS).

Would IFS help support this collation? Is this recommended?

What’s the reason for making this change? I wouldn’t recommend changing the collation, unless it’s necessary due to a well-founded reason.

Best regards
Roman

The reason DBA was exploring changing the collation is for consistancy. They would like to have all the DB using same collation (Windows default collation for Canada - Latin1_General_CI_AS).

Understood. I think if you want to go 100 % sure, you should open a support ticket to get further input on possible issues.

Best regards
Roman
