Getting Error “Invalid file name” when trying to save document using “Copy File To…”

It is working when using another option “Original File Name” to download the file.

Normally this happens when  file name includes invalid characters, but in this it is not the case. Even changing file name to a simple one does no resolve the issue.

Any advice on how to resolve this?

Hi YINKARE,

Please find below link. This might be able to help you.
As per my knowledge, similar situation reported before.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,
Roshan

Hi Roshan,

Thank you for the information.

Unfortunately this is not the case in this scenario. It is possible to save other files(word) with the Original file name.

Further even after altering name to a simple one, this error keeps on coming.

Rasika

I know we have measures against this, but I will ask anyway: could it be that the filename becomes to long? The document number as well as the other primary keys of the document revision is added together with the title, and the checkout path. In Windows this has a limitation of around 250 characters, depending on how deep the folder structure is that holds the checkout path.

Try to shorten the Title temporarily and/or change to a shorter and less deep checkout path and see if it helps.

Also, what's the path of the folder you select in the Copy File To... command?

Thank you for the reply.

It is possible to copy the name and manually save it in the same folder. Have also tried to enter a very short name just for the test – still getting the same error.

It seems this is not the issue.

Best Regards,

Rasika

Enable the Debug Console and observe what happens there during the file operation and see if you can find clues.
