We have attached documents to vouchers that are saved as PDF’s and some are 24 pages but they are taking ~10 minutes or more to open.  Is there anything that can be done to make opening pdf’s quicker?

What is the file size of the file itself?

What is the connection path to the file - in the database or ftp or separate server location?

Is the user wireless or wired?

There are a number of different factors that could be causing the issue, but that is the order I would start checking things.

@smelanson  Are you using a firewall? Sometimes this also can be a factor for the slowness.

@shawnberk the file is saved in the database which is in North America and the user is in the Philippines.  She is connected to the network, not wireless and the PDF file is 13 MB in size.

thanks

@smelanson Can you identify if it is the download that is slow, or the actual opening of the downloaded file? It could be a combination, of course. Ask your user to find the file where it was downloaded and open it manually and see how long time that takes. The time for the the file transfer should not be much different in Docman/IFS than it would be if you copied it over the network by other means.
