Question

Doc Class is not fetched automatically for drag and dropped attachments in the line level

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

The doc class is getting fetched only in the header level when using the drag and drop option to attach files. But when the user manually attaching files by browsing, the doc class gets automatically fetched in both header level and line level.

  • When drag and drop option is used.

  • When manual browsing option is used.

Need to know the reason for this difference between two options.

Hi,

I think the only reason is that we simply didn't think of implementing the same thing for the drag and drop scenario as for when you click Browse...

The user can click the Apply button in the dialog header to apply the default document class it to all lines.

Please consider improving user experience in IFS Cloud in this area. I checked in our cloud test environment and noticed the line doc class is automatically fetched in IFS cloud, but user has to navigate to another page to attach documents. Then there is not a big difference between APP10 and cloud. We are trying to reduce number of clicks for the end users. In IFS app 10 they have to click "Apply" button. In IFS Cloud they have to click on "New Document" and navigate to another page. This is just one area IFS has not thought of user experience. There are many other areas our users are complaining that need to be improved. Ultimately, they are considering replacing IFS product. It is good if we can at least say these issues are fixed in IFS cloud and user experience is better in cloud.

It's not clear to me what you find inconvenient in IFS Cloud - can you clarify what you mean by providing some screenshots and a step-by-step test plan? Perhaps we already have a better way to do what you want to do, or we can think of a cheap way to make it better.

You can also suggest things like this in the Ideas section here on IFS Community if you like, and we will consider them - please describe your idea with as much detail as you can, and the underlying purpose.

@Mathias Dahl Thanks for your response. Please see below test plan in IFS cloud

IFS version :24.2.3

Test Plan:

  1. Navigate to Purchase Requisition window > Create new PR header and add a part line
  2. Click on attachment pane> drag and drop a document from the files

Please note it is not possible to drag and drop a document in the attachment pane. I have to click on "New document” button and navigate to Create Documents page to drag and drop documents

Expected solution: Our users need to minimize clicks in the application. Here we have to navigate to a different page to drag and drop documents. Expectation is that the system allows to drag and drop documents in the Purchase requisition window. Also, the system to automatically save and attach document without user having to click on "Upload” button.

Please advise whether this can be handled in cloud?

In app 10 we can drag and drop documents in the same window. but we have a different challenge there to select document type manually (or click on "apply” button/) - this is the issue reported through CS0363230 in app10. We are keen on IFS cloud functionality as well, since we are upgrading to cloud by next year.

Please refer screenshots below

  1. Step 2 - drag and drop document in purchase requisition
  1. Click on "New document”

  1. Drag and drop document from Create documents window
  1. Have to click on "Upload” again
