@TTRACY yes, this is standard functionality.
In Document Class Management:
- Search for the Doc Class.
- In the Document Default Values tab, select Copy All Defaults.
- In the APPROVAL_TEMPLATE row, set the Override Default = YES.
- In the Override Value column, type in the Approval Template ID (cannot use a list here)
This Approval Template will default into each new document revision created for this class.
You cannot, though, set a global default template for all classes; it must be set for each class.
Just a follow up on this.
This has worked for a default approval step for all documents in several different Document Classes (SOP, SWI, FORMS).
Our current structure is document folder SOP then sub-folder broken into Dept (SOP-OPS, SOP-EHS, etc). Each will have different people approving them based on those departments/sub-folders.
Is there a way to assign approval templates at that level? Document Class is high level. We do not want separate document classes for each department.
Right now, I have them all going to the Document Manager/Admin, then cancelling the approval, selecting the correct template, and the re-submitting.
