We are creating a material order on Work Order and the quantity on hand isn’t enough to fulfill the order.  We issue the quantity available but the remaining quantity doesn’t show in the Shortage column.  Also, should a new material line get created automatically for the remaining amount?

Hi Smelanson,

Have you enabled the Shortage Notification check box in the Inventory Part/Misc Part Info tab?

From bug 155905, we have fixed some shortage issues in the WO material tab.

For your second question, someone from the Service(WO handle) team needs to give you an answer.

Hi SMelanson,

Shortage quantity will be shown once you reserve parts and when there is not available quantity, since it the difference between the quantity of demanded parts and the reserved parts. Also shortage notification should be enabled for the part as per the previous comment (in Inventory Part/Misc Part Info tab there is a check box that should be checked for shortage notification).

For the second question, new material line gets created automatically once you create a requisition for the remaining quantity by RMB on line and select ‘Create Purchase Requisition Line’. Then the first material order line will get closed, and a new material order line will get created.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the clairification.   We do have the shortage notification checkbox enabled but don’t have any reservations on the items we’re working with.

Thanks

Hi Shelley,

Since you already have the shortage notification checkbox enabled, now you need to perform reservation operation to get the shortage qty as the above Yasanthi has mentioned.
