Unfortunately we often have parts moved into quarantine to be checked/inspected that remain in that location for an extended period of time.  As we do not know what the outcome of the inspection will be, the availability control is set to not nettable so that the stock can’t be considering for planning.  Unfortunately it does mean that MRP will generate requisitions meaning we could order more parts to then find out items are then released from quarantine and become available.  I am interested to know if anyone else has the same issue and how they manage it to avoid having too much stock.  Is there a mechanism where parts can be temporarily excluded from MRP whilst they undergo evaluation?

Hi @M_Siem, I found below from a previous Support case. Please review it and check whether it could be applied to your business too.

“First, can you move the quarantine stock to a 'Quality Control' area? and then look at the answer below:
I am going to assume that your PO's are not closed when you move the inventory parts into your QA location.  MRP standard functionality will see that open PO as viable supply no matter where you have put the parts in the system.  If the PO was closed, then MRP would not see that as possible supply and would recommend that you order more parts as the QA location is not a picking location and is not available to be used.   If you are keeping the PO open so that it is not invoiced, then there really isn't any way to get around it that I am aware of.  The key is the open POs.“
