PM Action - Pre posting

Hi Community,

We would like to know why the pre-posting functionality is not enabled on the PM Action page?

Our scenario is to update the pre-postings on the PM action level where we don’t want to go into the work order level and update pre-posting when a new workorder is been generated.

Hi Nipun.

I think Pre-posting is not available on PM Action because it is a planning object, not a transactional object.it defines the maintenance plan, triggers, and job templates, but it does not carry financial postings because:

  • No actual transaction occurs at PM Action stage.
  • Pre-postings are linked to real cost transactions (labor, material, purchase) which only happen when a Work Order is generated. 

Therefore, Pre-Posting functionality may design to control financial postings at the Work Order level, not at the PM Action level.
